Privacy Policy

Overview

Achriom is a personal media library with an AI librarian. You can catalog and explore your books, movies, albums, TV shows, anime, podcasts, and games in the Achriom apps, on the web, and from AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT through our connector. Your library is personal and we treat it that way. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and who processes it.

Information We Collect

Account Information

Sign in: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address. You can also sign in with a link sent to your email, or with a password if you set one.
Subscription: We record your plan and subscription status. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.

Library Data

We store what you add to your library, across all seven media: books, movies, TV shows, albums, anime, podcasts, and games. For each item this includes the title and its details, your status, rating, format, progress, and notes. We also store:

Your diary: the dates you started and finished things, and repeats you log (re-reads, rewatches, re-listens).
Lists you create, and the notes you add to them.
Uploaded books (EPUBs and PDFs), for search inside them.
Your taste profile: patterns, preferences, and facts about your taste that the librarian saves, including anything you ask it to remember, and your Taste Portrait.

Conversations with the Librarian

Chat history: Conversations with the librarian inside Achriom are stored so it can follow up and remember context. You can delete any conversation.
Usage counts: We count messages to apply plan limits.

Connected Assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, and Other MCP Clients)

When you connect Achriom to an AI assistant, you sign in to Achriom with OAuth and the assistant calls Achriom's tools on your behalf, for example to search your library, add a film, or log that you finished a book. We receive only those tool calls and send back results from your library.

We do not receive or store your conversation with that assistant, its memory, or your files there.
What a tool call changes (an item added, a rating, a note, a date) is saved to your library like anything you do in the app.
We keep a log of tool calls: which tool, whether it worked, how long it took, and a few short arguments such as the media type or title. We use it to run the service, fix problems, and prevent abuse.

Explore and Usage

Explore: On the Explore wall we record what was shown to you and what you did with it (played, how long, saved, skipped, or marked not for you), to choose what to show you next.
Analytics: Our website and web app use Google Tag Manager to measure how pages and features are used. You can opt out at achriom.com/optout.

Imports

When you import from another service (such as Goodreads, Letterboxd, TV Time, Trakt, IMDb, MyAnimeList, AniList, or Apple Music), we read the data you choose to import and add it to your library.

Photos and Scans

Shelf scans: Photos of shelves, DVDs, or records are processed to extract titles and are not kept after processing.

How Recommendations Work

Recommendations come from what people with overlapping tastes keep, computed from libraries in aggregate. No one can see another person's library, lists, ratings, or notes through them, and your data is never shown to another person except through a share link you choose to give out (below).

Share Links

Your library is private. A list, your Taste Portrait, and your Serendipity wall can each be shared by a private link; only people you give the link to can see what it shows, and it is not listed anywhere. You can stop sharing a list or your Serendipity wall at any time.

AI Processing

Achriom uses AI models from these providers. We send them only what a task needs, and we do not use your data to train AI models.

Anthropic (Claude): The librarian. Your messages and the relevant parts of your library are sent to generate responses and your Taste Portrait and its readings.
OpenAI: Extracting titles from shelf photos, analysis and summaries for library items, and embeddings for search by meaning.
OpenRouter: Short, structured judgments, such as which edition or film a title refers to, how to route a search, and whether a note or list name contains instructions aimed at an AI. We send the item details, search text, or note in question, not your whole library.
Tavily: Web research the librarian runs to answer a question; the search terms are sent.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies and terms.

Other Services We Use

Metadata and Media Sources

To identify titles and fetch covers, details, trailers, and previews, we send titles, identifiers, and search terms (not who you are) to: TMDB and TVDB (film and TV), Discogs, MusicBrainz, and Apple Music (music), Open Library and Google Books (books), AniList, MyAnimeList (via Jikan), and Kitsu (anime), IGDB (games), PodcastIndex (podcasts), and YouTube (trailers and related videos).

Retailer Links

Some pages in the web app link to retailers such as Bookshop.org and Amazon, and we may earn a commission when you buy. If you follow one, that retailer's privacy policy applies. Our connector for AI assistants never includes these links.

Data Storage and Security

Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
OAuth 2.0 for connected assistants; no API keys
Sign-in through Apple, Google, or your email
Regular security updates and monitoring

Data Retention

Library data, lists, diary, and taste profile: Kept while your account is active, until you delete them
Chat history: Kept for continuity; you can delete any conversation
Uploaded books: Kept until you remove them
Connector tool-call log and Explore activity: Kept to operate and secure the service, and deleted with your account
Photos: Processed for text extraction and discarded

Your Rights

You can:

Access your data
Export your library (Settings in the web app)
Delete individual items, lists, conversations, or uploaded content
Disconnect Achriom from any AI assistant at any time
Delete your account and all associated data (how to delete your account)

Children's Privacy

Achriom is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us.

International Users

Your data is stored and processed in the United States. By using Achriom, you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will tell you about significant changes in the app or by updating the "Last updated" date on this page.
